LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An assistance program created to help those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic by providing housing and utility aid is nearly out of funds, officials said Tuesday.

The CARES Housing Assistance Program will no longer accept applications for rental aid after officials announced that the program had “completed its allocation of available dollars.”

Current applications will still be processed using the remaining funds, which the release described as limited. Priority will be given to older adults and people with disabilities who were referred by the Eviction Diversion Program at the Las Vegas Justice Court.

“We recognize this news may be challenging for those who are experiencing hardship,” said Jamie Sorenson, director of social services for Clark County. “This funding has been in place since COVID-19, and our programming has adapted to meet the needs of our community.”

Officials report the program has assisted over 73,000 residents in the valley.

The release advises those in need of help to contact Clark County Social Services at 702-455-4270 or visit the Civil Law Self-Help Center online or in person.

Officials said the program has assisted over 73,000 residents in the valley.
