LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar spoke on the success of the 2024 election cycle.

In a release, he said “everything wasn’t perfect.” There’s still more work to do, but the state saw record numbers in voter turnout and registration.

In total, over two million people registered to vote and 73 percent of those people voted.

Forty-five percent of voters did so by mail, 37 percent by early voting and 18 percent on Election Day.

For those who volunteered on Election Day, over 3,000 people signed up to work. Aguilar says the new website to encourage new poll workers and high schools helped get numbers up.

When it came to poll worker safety, the Election Worker Protection Act passed last year proved effective. To date, there were no reports of incidents that escalated the need to use the act.

“Whether they are engaged year-round in preparing and executing the election, or whether they were a poll worker on election day; election workers are truly the unsung heroes of democracy and we can’t thank them enough,” Aguilar said.

The Nevada Supreme Court will certify the election on Nov. 26 and the Electoral College will meet on Dec. 17.
