LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – As we see more rain, flood control officials say we also see more trash in the stormwater system.
The Regional Flood Control District has several steps in place to filter stormwater before it eventually flows into Lake Mead, but if those systems get clogged, more flooding can occur.
Regional Flood Control District Chief Engineer Steven Parrish says it’s important the public reports grates or screens clogged with trash
“We can’t be everywhere all at once, so we rely on the public and their eyes to let us know if there is a problem,” Parris says.
