LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A warning for anyone with an Amazon Prime membership, be careful with renewal emails.

Cybercriminals send emails saying memberships are about to expire and send a link to click.

The link goes to a PDF which goes to an imposter site that looks just like the real thing.

The site then collects personal data like addresses, phone and credit card numbers.

To avoid getting ripped off, be cautious with attachments, especially those from unfamiliar addresses.

Check account statuses through Amazon’s site or its app.

Be suspicious of any email that raises a sense of urgency. If legitimacy is doubted, contact the company directly through its site or through a customer service line.
