LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV men’s soccer senior midfielder Brophy Howard was named the WAC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. This marks his first career weekly award.

A local product out of Bishop Gorman High School, Howard scored the go-ahead goal in the 64th minute of the Rebels’ 2-0 victory over Tulsa in their season opener. The game-winning score against the Golden Hurricane was the first of his career.

The Rebels hit the road for the first time this season as they head to Ohio for two contests.

They will face Dayton on Thursday, August 29 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET and Ohio State on Sunday, September 1 at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.
