WADDELL, AZ (AZFamily) — The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body of Amber Barnett was recovered in the White Tank Mountains months after she disappeared while hiking.
On Thursday, deputies confirmed that the remains were Barnett’s. She has been missing since Apr. 2, 2024.
According to a flyer obtained by Arizona’s Family, Barnett was initially reported missing after not returning from her hike at the park in Waddell, about 35 miles northwest of Phoenix.
The flyer said that after a search, her car, keys and purse were found in one of the lots.
Last Sunday, a hiker spotted human remains, prompting homicide detectives to conduct an investigation and identify the remains.
No other information has been released.
