LAS VEGAS (FOX5) —Highway lights along a stretch of Interstate 11 near downtown Las Vegas were out over the weekend and Tuesday evening, creating dark driving conditions for motorists.
Lights were out on both northbound and southbound lanes of I-11 between the Downtown/Las Vegas Boulevard exit and Eastern Avenue, just outside the Spaghetti Bowl interchange.
Video taken around 7:30 pm and just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday showed the stretch of dark lights in the location, making it more difficult for drivers to see.
Previous copper wire theft
The same area was affected by a copper wire theft in November 2024. Nevada Department of Transportation officials said someone broke into a transformer and stole copper wire, causing an estimated $40,000 in damage.
Over the past few months, FOX5 noticed the lights have been intermittently on and off at various times.
NDOT officials told FOX5 Tuesday they’re looking into the current status of the lights. Check back for developments on this story.
