LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas man, 32, is accused of shooting an unarmed neighbor who reportedly had his hands inside his pants and “rushed” toward him during an altercation in the west valley Monday night.
Police said the shooting incident happened in the 2200 block of Starlin Meadow Place around 7:07 p.m. This is near Lake Mead and Rampart boulevards.
Eddie Moreno is accused of shooting his neighbor, Joe Moreno. He is accused of open murder with a deadly weapon. According to an interview with detectives, Eddi told police that they returned home from a family event and saw his neighbor, Joe, looking into his backyard.
In the arrest report, Eddie claims that that Joe was “acting aggressive and appeared to be talking to himself.”
Eddie told police that his wife grabbed his gun for him and he warned Joe to leave his property and that he would be shot if he were to return.
Eddie told police that Joe then stood on a boulder and stepped toward Eddie with his hands in his pants. He told police he shot Joe when he entered his property.
Police said Joe was in his 40s and died at the scene.
Police interviewed Joe’s dating partner who he was living with at the time of the shooting. She told police that they argued, resulting in Joe being locked out of the residence.
Police also interviewed Eddie’s wife, the one who made the 911 call regarding the incident, the arrest report details her claiming that Joe exposed his genitals as he put his hands in his shorts. However, Eddie told police that he did not recall seeing anything.
Another neighbor told police that the incident was recorded on a Blink recording device. In the video, it shows the altercation between Eddie and Joe. In the arrest report, the conversation details Joe saying Eddie was going to kill him and that Eddie did not care and that he was going to “murder him.”
Police arrested Eddie on open murder because detectives claim that Joe was not seen standing on Eddie’s property or looking into his backyard, the boulder was on Joe’s property, Joe did not make a threat to Eddie about having a weapon on him, and Eddie could be heard telling Joe he was going to “murder him.”
Police also said that they discovered no weapons on Joe.
