LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The shooting death of Joseph Perry, 22, at a Movies in the Park event has rocked the lives of many in the Pahrump area, according to Joe McGill, Nye County Sheriff.

Carlos Blakely turned himself in to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials Monday. Two other individuals are wanted by authorities: Anthony Aguilar, 18, a suspect who is considered armed and dangerous, and Fabian Ferrante, who officials said was no longer classified as a suspect, but rather a person of interest wanted for questioning.

Speaking to FOX5, McGill detailed the investigation that led to one suspect surrendering to law enforcement officials on Monday.

FOX5: How is Carlos [Blakely] turning himself in [Monday] a turning point in this investigation?

McGill: It is potentially a very big positive in our favor because […] it gives us the opportunity to potentially interview him and find out what he has to say, whether he will implicate himself or the other guys[…]. So it is a good thing, being that we put out yesterday that he had surrendered.

FOX5: How is the town of Pahrump today? It’s been a few days since this incident happened. Obviously, two people are still at large.

McGill: A lot of media have been asking, are they still here in Pahrump? Are they in Vegas? Where are they? Where do you think they are? They could be anywhere. They could be here in Pahrump for all we know. We have shaken every bush […] and turned over every rock we could find here in Pahrump. We’ve come up with nothing at this point. We have received information that maybe they’re going to California, maybe they’re going to Mexico. Anything is possible, and we’re just following up on everything we can.

FOX5: And you have gone to every single address for these two?

McGill: We’ve gone to every address that we can find that has any connection to any of the three.

FOX5: Here in town, what is the help that you guys are getting when it comes to searching for the two suspects because as you said, they could be anywhere.

McGill: They could be anywhere. If we were to get a solid tip about a particular address in Vegas, we would definitely reach out to whichever agency it is — whether it be Metro, Henderson, North Las Vegas, whoever. We also have the United States Marshall Services assisting in the search. They are doing whatever magic it is that they do because they are so good at what they do; they gotta be magic somehow. So any help that we could possibly need, I know that a simple phone call and we would get it.

FOX5: For a small town like Pahrump, tell me about how difficult this case might be. You guys don’t come across this type of crime too often.

McGill: No, we don’t. I was doing an interview with somebody else just a few minutes ago and a homicide in Nye County is an anomaly. It doesn’t happen all the time. […] We just don’t deal with it that often, so it’s difficult for people to handle the fact that it was a public place where — I mean, I don’t even know how many people were in the park the night that it happened, but I keep hearing individuals say, “I was there, I was there. I was there.” So it touched a lot of people. We are doing everything that we can to find these guys. […] I’m confident that we will find all three of them. Once we do, whatever appropriate charges will be filed, and they will be going to court and facing whatever they’re facing. […] It’s rocked a lot of people’s lives over the last couple of days.

FOX5: As for the wanted poster, where are those being put up in town?

McGill: They are being sent out on the internet — social media.

FOX5: Carlos Blakeley’s mom, the fact that she had contacted you guys as well. Could you just touch on that?

McGill: Our Lieutenant and our detectives had been contacting her on a regular basis, and she was cooperative. We believed that she was going to continue to be cooperative. She doesn’t want her son to get hurt, so she said that she would assist us and get him to turn himself in if he contacted her, and he did. So that’s how that worked out, and we appreciate her cooperation. I know, as a father myself, it’s hard to turn your child in to the cops, but that’s much better than the alternative of him potentially shooting it out.

FOX5: These are really young suspects. Have you been in contact with the other suspects? Parents as well.

McGill: I am not sure if the detectives had actually made contact with all the parents or not.
