LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A local Jewish temple is collecting donations to help tens of thousands of people displaced by the wildfires.
Congregation Ner Tamid is organizing the donation drive to help those impacted.
In addition to homes burning down, the 100-year-old Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center has also been destroyed.
The local congregation is asking for water and non-perishable food.
They’re also asking for other essentials like hygiene products, over the counter medications, diapers, and pet supplies.
The congregation says the Las Vegas community is great at coming together for a crisis – especially for our neighbors.
Cantor Jessica Hutchings – co-spiritual leader said, “We’re not so far away. We’re close enough that we’re impacted by it but, we can be a safe haven for them. We can help bring resources, they can come here for resources. It’s a short flight, not so long drive, and they’re our neighbors, we have to help our neighbors.
The congregation will start collecting donations tomorrow at 9 a.m.
Three more collection periods are set from Sunday to Tuesday.
