LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Amid a tourism slump, August data show the Las Vegas airport has also seen a decline in passengers.

New data from Harry Reid International Airport show a decline in the total number of passengers arriving and departing from the Las Vegas airport in August compared to August 2024, with about 280,000 fewer travelers—a 5.8% drop.

In addition, the number of visitors traveling through the airport has decreased for the year to date compared to the same point in the previous year. So far in 2025, the airport has seen 1.7 million fewer passengers, a 4.5% decline from this point in 2024.

In August, Spirit Airlines saw the most significant decrease in passengers, down 46.3% compared to August 2024.

The new information comes as the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority launched a new campaign aimed at bringing more visitors to the “sports and entertainment capital of the world.” July’s tourism trends showed a 12% year-over-year decline in visitors to Las Vegas.
