LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A suspect accused of a brutal stabbing at Red Rock Resort pled guilty to attempted murder.

According to court officials, Shayne Sussman entered an Alford plea. This means Sussman understands prosecutors could have enough evidence to convict him, but he does not admit to any guilt.

Sussman faced 11 charges. Three of them are attempted murder and the others are battery with a use of a deadly weapon.

In the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 3, police say he stabbed and critically injured two Red Rock Casino employees.

“I believe I heard either a firework or a gunshot go off in Red Rock Casino,” says one anonymous caller whose name has been redacted.

In 911 calls obtained by FOX5, multiple callers to dispatch could be heard reporting gunshots to Las Vegas police.

Before the shooting, security said Sussman tried to enter a closed restaurant, and appeared to be “under the influence.”

Police said the stabbing was “unprovoked.” Sussman’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 26 at 8:30 a.m.
