LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — City of Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley held a press conference Thursday, where she addressed several topics, including TSA agents, animal cruelty, and approval of tiny homes in Las Vegas.
Topics addressed:
The tiny home community with $900 rent was unanimously approved Wednesday. This community will be a first-of-its-kind.
Around 50 custom tiny homes will be built in a planned community on the southwest corner of Eastern and Searles avenues. The 2 1/4-acre lot is currently vacant.
Two people were arrested, and over 30 dogs were seized following an animal abuse investigation.
In a release, police confirmed that a search warrant was conducted on the Working Dogs of Nevada facility near Tenaya Way and Lake Mead Boulevard, in response to animal cruelty concerns.
TSA officers at Harry Reid International Airport have been mainly working without pay. Some say they are faced with eviction notices amid the government shutdown.
On March 27, President Donald Trump signed an executive action to pay TSA employees. Days later, officials in Las Vegas confirmed TSA workers were paid after more than 40 days without a paycheck.
