Las Vegas couple launches CulDeSac platform to connect neighbors in need

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas couple has launched an online platform designed to connect neighbors who need help with those willing to provide it.

Pam and Robb Wagner created CulDeSac just before Thanksgiving, drawing on Pam’s longstanding passion for volunteering that followed her from Burbank, California to Las Vegas.

“I really liked that one on one, that helping somebody and that connection. So when we moved to Las Vegas, I was looking for something along those lines,” Pam Wagner said.

How the platform works

The platform allows people to anonymously submit forms asking for help. The Wagners then post descriptions of families in need and what they require, giving potential helpers direction to provide acts of kindness.

“I think people are looking for a way to get back to a connected community,” Robb Wagner said. “It’s away from the algorithm. It’s away from the noise. It’s away from the politics. It’s really just about one thing which is neighbors coming together to help other neighbors.”

The couple said they were encouraged by the platform’s early response.

“The very first time somebody went in and bought an act of kindness Robb and I were jumping up and down. Thinking ‘oh my God, this is going to work,’” Pam Wagner said.

Building emotional connections

Robb Wagner said the platform aims to create emotional connections between helpers and those in need.

“Somebody who’s got a 10-year-old daughter. If they go one our site and find out about a 10-year-old little girl who’s not going to get her Christmas present,” Robb Wagner said.

“That’s going to hit an emotional cord with the mother. That’s what we really want to do is strike those emotions.”

The Wagners hope to build an online community that feels like an in-person neighborhood and create what Pam Wagner calls an emotional network connecting across the valley.

“We want our neighbors to help their neighbors. That’s our community,” Pam Wagner said.
