LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Those who visit Las Vegas Athletic Clubs to swim will now have to find a pool elsewhere.

In an email to LVAC members, the gym said it’s been forced to close its pools by the Southern Nevada Health District. Earlier this year, the district revoked the gym’s lifeguard waiver after two incidents at their indoor pools.

The waiver allowed the gym to monitor pools by video surveillance rather than using an in-person lifeguard.

In the email, LVAC’s CEO said he intends to continue discussions with the district in order to come to an agreement with new lifeguard requirements.

The health district provided their reasons in a press release. The cite a death back in February this year and said that they gave the gym a 60 day notice that the revocation would go into effect Aug. 12.

SNHD said the gym filed an emergency notion but it was denied.

Officials say they are meeting with LVAC this week to develop a final draft for a lifeguard staffing plan.
