LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas judge denied a motion to dismiss all charges against Duane “Keffe D” Davis Tuesday morning.
Davis is accused of ordering the deadly drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur in 1996, something he claimed in multiple interviews and his memoir. Prosecutors say his statements have been prime evidence to bring charges against him decades later.
Davis’ attorney, Carl Arnold, has stated that, while his client did make those admissions, there is still a lack of other incriminating evidence.
During Tuesday’s hearing, prosecutors reaffirmed that Davis chose to confess “multiple times.” Davis’ attorney responded by highlighting how a conviction cannot only be based on a defendant’s statements.
The judge ruled that it was clear that a crime had been committed, and denied both motions to dismiss the charges and delay the trial.
Davis’ trial is set to proceed on March 17.
