LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Lights today announced a pair of injury updates regarding two players scheduled to undergo upcoming knee surgeries: defender Gaoussou Samake and forward Riki Alba. While Alba is not expected to miss extended time, Samake is slated to be sidelined for 6-8 months following an ACL repair operation.
Samake suffered the season-ending injury in his left knee during the initial minutes of the Club’s match on May 25 at the Tampa Bay Rowdies. For Alba, the upcoming meniscus surgery on his right knee is slated to address lingering discomfort.Both players are scheduled to undergo respective knee operations in the coming days and will then begin their recovery timelines.In USL Championship action, the Lights open the month of June this weekend – a month in which they will play five times at Cashman Field. This weekend, the Lights welcome Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, June 1 at Cashman Field (7:30 p.m. PT / National: ESPN+, Local: SSSEN & FOX 5).Saturday is Military Appreciation Night, presented by Findlay Nissan. As part of the club’s gratitude to those who have bravely served the Stars and Stripes, several opportunities are available for military members to enjoy a Lights match this weekend, including a simple way for all supporters to support the troops in conjunction with the Club.
