LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man accused of driving under the influence, critically injuring a 61-year-old man and cutting power to thousands in Las Vegas made an initial appearance in court Friday.

Roberto Olivas, 27, appeared in court Friday for an initial hearing related to a crash that left a 61-year-old man in critical condition and cut off power to thousands Thursday afternoon.

Olivas was appointed an attorney, and bail was set at $200,000 during the appearance, with conditions that he must stay out of legal trouble and not drive while out on bail.

As of 4 p.m. on Friday, Olivas remained in the Clark County Detention Center.

He is accused of driving under the influence and crashing into several structures, including an electrical relay box that cut power to thousands of homes and businesses in the area, before critically injuring an unidentified 61-year-old man sitting at a bus stop.

Olivas faces one count each of felony reckless driving; felony DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm or in a work zone; driving without proof of insurance, a misdemeanor; and driving with an unregistered vehicle, also a misdemeanor.

He is due to return to court at 8 a.m. Aug. 5 before Judge Joe Bonaventure of Department 9.
