LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Starting and managing a small business can be overwhelming – especially when you’re doing it all on your own.
One Las Vegas program is helping Hispanic and bilingual entrepreneurs across Southern Nevada build and grow their businesses, all at no cost.
Francisco Rojo and Maria de Rosario Gonzalez are the owners of Rojo Rustics Woodwork, a business that began with a handmade coffee table and has grown into a full-time operation.
“Start. The most important thing is start,” Maria said.
Like many small business owners, they explained they struggled with organizing their finances – until they found help from Chicanos Por La Causa.
“I received small business loans and assisted classes for marketing, operations and most recently bookkeeping and accounting,” Maria said.
Rojo explained this assistance made all the difference and from that point on everything changed for the better.
“It’s been helping us to grow our business little by little,” Francisco said. “We stay afloat.”
The help came from experts like Noe Gonzalez, who works with people one-on-one.
“At the time they were doing still very traditional marketing,” Noe said. “So, they pivoted to learn how to do marketing online, opening a website and create social media presence for their business.”
Noe was able to break down the numbers in Spanish and help Francisco and Maria with the back end of their woodwork business.
“All these tools available to the big corporations, are now available also to the small business owner,” Noe explained.
