LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer is accused of pointing a gun at his ex-wife’s boyfriend, who had started dating the cop’s lover’s husband, according to court records.

Robert Bell, who has been employed with LVMPD since 1999, faces multiple assault and domestic violence charges in connection with the altercation in February 2024.

According to an arrest report, Bell is accused of confronting his ex-wife and her boyfriend with a gun while they were engaged in sex in their previously shared home.

Bell’s ex-wife said she was with another man in the bedroom when Bell entered and pointed a firearm at them. Bell reportedly told his ex-wife to “get out of the line of fire” before faking a 911 call to try and get the man to leave the home.

The man eventually left before Bell berated his ex-wife for having the man over, according to the report.

The ex-wife accused Bell of watching the home surveillance cameras to see that she had another man over, according to the report. Bell said he went to the home to pick up his uniforms for work.

The arrest report states that Bell and his wife got divorced after Bell reportedly had an affair with a woman who worked at Clark County Detention Center.

Bell’s daughter reportedly learned of the affair and told her mother and the other woman’s husband. Eventually, Bell’s ex-wife and the other woman’s husband began seeing each other.

Bell said he never pointed the gun at the couple. According to a divorce deposition in May 2024, Bell said he held his gun at “low ready,” explaining that the gun was in his hand but pointed downward in case there was a threat.

Bell’s ex-wife reported the incident the next day to Bell’s supervisor, the report said.

Though the incident happened in February 2024, the investigation continued well into late 2024 until Bell’s arrest on Jan. 15, records show. Police said Bell was placed on suspension of police powers with pay pending further investigation.
