LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police are investigating an alleged “terrorism threat” outside of Boulder City, sources say.
Sources tell FOX5 that officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a crash at power substation off of I-11 outside of Boulder City on Thursday morning. They report the sole occupant of the car died in the crash.
Sources say that the FBI is investigating the incident as a possible terrorism threat due to the driver traveling across state lines before the crash.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill mentioned the incident briefly during the State of the Department address.
“And just last night, our counterterrorism teams were out and are still out working on an event that occurred here in our valley,” Sheriff McMahill said during the address. “I’ll obviously be talking about that later. But again, it looks to have been a credible counterterrorism threat.”
LVMPD are expected to share more information on the incident in a briefing at 1 p.m. on Friday.
This is a developing story, check back later for updates.
