Las Vegas police looking for man who threw chihuahua into dumpster

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metro Police are looking for the man who threw a 3-year-old Chihuahua into a dumpster Monday night.

FOX5 previously spoke to the Vegas Pet Rescue Project, who said the dog spent 24 hours in the dumpster before it was rescued. Veterinarians with Horizon Ridge Animal Hospital evaluated the dog, who is being called “Atreyu,” and determined he is uninjured but skittish after the incident.

LVMPD shared in a release that officers responded to the 5500 block of Sheila Avenue alongside Animal Protection Services. They are asking for the public’s help identifying the man who threw Atreyu into the dumpster, as seen on surveillance video obtained by FOX5.

Las Vegas Metro Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident alongside Clark County Animal Protection Services.
