LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas police officer killed in the line of duty was honored Wednesday during the Rose Parade.
Cheers erupted as the OneLegacy Donate Life parade float went by. Officer Truong Thai is one of the organ donors honored with a florograph on that float.
Thai was shot and killed in 2022 during a shootout with a suspect near UNLV. He was celebrated for giving the gift of life through his donation.
That’s family was also at the parade and got to meet and speak with other donor families.
The Nevada Donor Network described it as an emotion, but important experience.
“I think it’s really a part of the healing process,” said Gordon Prouty, the foundation president for Nevada Donor Network. “It’s just so inspiring to the public to be able to know more about that selfless gift they’ve given.
This is the 14th year the network has participated in the Donate Life float at the Rose Parade.
