LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Cell phone video shows at least eight officers outside a Las Vegas Valley home to seize ducks and chickens amid allegations of zoning violations.

Earlier this week, video shows officers with Clark County Code Enforcement, Animal Control and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police outside a doorstep of a home: homeowner “Iveta” showed us a signed warrant allowing officers to come into the home and seize animals.

“They were frightened when ten officers came in, they started jumping, screaming. They were in huge distress,” Iveta said, describing the situation when the officers rounded up the birds around the property.

“They are pets and were kept as pets,” she said, telling FOX5 she is working to take them from the Animal Foundation and bring them to a relative’s home instead.

Cell phone video captures the conversation that ensued on Iveta’s doorstep, after she said she heard officers trying to get inside through the front door.

The conversation is primarily with a Code Enforcement officer.

Officer: We have a warrant today to get all the farm animals off of your property.

Iveta: I wasn’t given any, any notice.

Officer: I’ve given you all the notices.

Iveta: I went to court and I was allowed to have them.

Officer: We are enforcing Title 30, which I’ve given you every notice. We’ve spoken to you multiple times. I’ve issued you citations.

Iveta: I went to court and I was good. They told me I can have them as long as they’re in the coop.

Officer: No, no. You could have them if you have the correct permits. You don’t have any permits. Your residence is not zoned to have farm animals.

Iveta is looking at her legal options to get her pets back and bring them to a relative’s home. She showed FOX5 a letter from a provider, showing that at least one chicken is an Emotional Support Animal.

“I need them, and because it’s my home,” Iveta said. “So who is actually suffering from this? It’s not the public, it’s not the HOA. It’s only me suffering from this,” she said to FOX5.

FOX5 asked for a response from Clark County on the Code Enforcement response and the warrant served in the case. Is there a way for Iveta to get the animals back? A County spokesperson said Thursday that officials were working on the request.

FOX5 covered the case surrounding Iveta earlier this year. In February, Iveta showed us video of Clark County Animal Control officers giving her a misdemeanor citation for not having a proper coop and allowing chickens in the home.

In the previous interview, Iveta told FOX5 that it’s her right to have the chickens on her property. She argued that she had done everything needed to keep them– such as obtaining letters from neighbors expressing permission.

Clark County officials told FOX5 in February, the zoning designation for Iveta property does not allow for any chickens; homes zoned “residential” are not allowed to have chickens or livestock at all.

Other County zoning designations have certain requirements to allow chickens, from permission from all the neighbors to a limit on the number of chickens on the property.

In a court date set for May, Iveta said the fine was dropped for the citation issued by Animal Control.

Clark County previously provided FOX5 with a list of zoning regulations and guidelines for chickens.

According to officials, homes zoned “residential” are not allowed to have chickens or livestock at all. (FOX5)
