LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police are expected to discuss their investigation into the Cybertruck explosion in front of the Trump hotel Friday.
The explosion happened morning of New Year’s Day in the valet area of Trump International Hotel Las Vegas. It killed the driver and injured multiple others.
Thursday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County coroner identified the suspect as Matthew Livelsberger. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The coroner said it was a challenge to identify his body as it was “burnt beyond recognition.” FOX5 learned he was an active-duty soldier from Colorado Springs.
A forensic investigation into the Cybertruck that Livelsberger rented from Turo in Denver on Dec. 28 located his military IDs, passport, and several guns. Police tracked the vehicle’s movements through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada, using data from Tesla charging stations.

The press briefing is expected to start at 1 p.m. McMahill is expected to speak at headquarters. FOX5 plans to be there and those interested in watching could view it through the video player above.
