LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Raiders obtained Seattle’s Geno Smith in a trade Friday.
Seahawks’ Smith was traded for a third round pick.
The trade would reunite Raiders head coach Pete Carroll and Smith. The quarterback has been with Seattle since 2019 and worked with Carroll up until the 2023 season.
Smith has been the starter for the Seahawks for the last three years. Last season, Smith guided Seattle to a 10-7 record, but the team missed the playoffs.
The Raiders used three different starting quarterbacks last season.
The club can now turn their attention to other needs in free agency. This trade won’t be announced until next week at the earliest when when the league season opens.
