LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Social media influencer Shirley Raines, founder of ‘Beauty 2 The Streetz’ and known as “Miss Shirley,” was found dead in her Henderson home Tuesday, according to TMZ reports.
Raines, 58, was found unresponsive during a welfare check at her Henderson residence, TMZ reported. Officials have not shared her cause of death.
Community partnerships fueled mission
Raines dedicated her life to giving back and feeding the unhoused, traveling between Las Vegas and Los Angeles to help underserved communities. With more than 1 million followers on social media, she let the world watch as she helped the most vulnerable.
“This just used to be my party city like everybody else. But outside of the partying and outside of the Strip, I was shown another world. I saw the street,” Raines said in a 2024 interview with FOX5.
Kim Groberg, general manager of Boards and Graze, partnered with Raines monthly to provide 100 charcuterie boxes for distribution.
“The minute we started following her, we were so inspired and knew she was who we wanted to work with as our monthly partnership, and from the first time we met with her, it was pure joy,” Groberg said.
Legacy of service and recognition
Groberg said her team treated Raines’ orders with the same care and attention as paying customers.
“To see the joy that she brought to the people in that community she served and knowing the pain and grief she gone through in her personal life,” Groberg said.
This past Christmas, Groberg’s team surprised Raines with their largest charcuterie board as a treat for her.
“She said I have purpose, but I don’t have happiness, so the happiness she brought to all of the people that she served was so inspiring, and so we wanted to do something for her,” Groberg said.
Their last interaction was earlier this month when Raines visited the business.
“She came in, and we were talking about life, and said I just want to thank you so much for putting these together,” Groberg said.
Raines was known for more than her philanthropic work. In 2021, she was awarded CNN’s Hero of the Year. This year, she won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Social Media Personality.
Groberg said her team was preparing a Valentine’s Day order for Raines and had been trying to reach her. The business remains determined to continue giving back to Beauty 2 The Streetz.
“She served and her purpose and the loss not only those in the homeless community but the loss in our community,” Groberg said.
