LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Guests from Trump International Hotel were evacuated to a nearby Resorts World and stayed in the ballroom or checked into a hotel on property after Wednesday morning’s deadly explosion of a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck.

The explosion happened around 8:40 a.m. FOX5 learned Trump International Hotel opened back open to guests several hours later around 4 p.m. But that’s only for guests who had already checked into the hotel before the explosion.

It’s a different story for those who hadn’t, as Sheriff Kevin McMahill explains.

“I would like to thank the Resorts World because as you know we had to close down the Trump and evacuate it, as well as the Fashion Show Mall,” Sheriff McMahill said. “The Resorts World was very gracious in taking those hundreds of individuals.”

Many guests who decided to stay in town had to weave through long check-in lines Wednesday afternoon and into the evening.

Many FOX5 heard from were upset, and had been without answers for hours. Some found out what was happening from their Uber drivers, while others watched the local news to see why they couldn’t check into the Trump International Hotel.
