According to a release, the official transition of host cities was marked Monday at a press conference where CFP Executive Director Rich Clark joined Miami and Las Vegas host committee members. The symbolic moment involved adding Miami’s sticker to a gold CFP helmet, which already displayed stickers from past host cities.

“Las Vegas is an exciting stage for college football, and we look forward to the year ahead as we plan for next year’s College Football Playoff National Championship there,” said Rich Clark, Executive Director of the CFP. “The city has proven it can host world-class events, and we know the leadership in Las Vegas will help us deliver a championship experience worthy of the sport, the teams, and the fans.”

Las Vegas’ Track Record

Officials discussed that the Southern Nevada destination has already proven its merit in hosting major events. Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President and CEO Steve Hill highlighted the city’s recent Super Bowl and Formula 1 experiences as evidence of its ability to deliver championship-caliber hosting.

“Las Vegas is ready and eager to light up college football’s biggest night,” Hill said. “Our city has the playbook, the people, and the passion to deliver an unforgettable College Football Playoff National Championship, with Allegiant Stadium and our world-class resorts, entertainment, dining, and attractions creating an incredible championship weekend for fans.”

Host Committee Leadership

According to the release, the 2027 Las Vegas CFP Host Committee brings together leaders from tourism, gaming, sports, entertainment, business, and government. The group is co-chaired by Sandra Douglass Morgan, president of the Las Vegas Raiders, and Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson.

Gibson stressed the importance of coordinated planning across multiple areas. Transportation, public safety, and guest services have been aligned to ensure fans receive an exceptional and safe game day experience, he said.

Douglass Morgan called out Allegiant Stadium’s credentials as a championship venue capable of hosting some of the world’s biggest sporting and entertainment events.

Full Vegas Experience

The championship weekend will extend beyond the game itself. Marching bands and spirit squads will compete alongside world-class shows, dining, and attractions, transforming the event into a full Las Vegas getaway for visitors.

With 150,000 hotel rooms and a walkable resort corridor, Las Vegas is positioned to welcome fans from across the country. The destination’s infrastructure and amenities provide attendees with multiple entertainment options surrounding the main event.

Hill concluded the ceremony by presenting the CFP Executive with a commemorative light bulb from the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign — a symbolic gesture representing the city’s readiness to shine when college football’s national championship takes center stage.
