LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas special needs teacher and beloved baseball coach is in the hospital suffering from severe burns and fighting for recovery.

Dave Seccombe, alongside his son, Cannon, sustained burns after a fire. According to a verified GoFundMe, the fire happened in late July while camping at Mt. Charleston.

According to Seccumbe’s family, Dave had opened a gas can, and due to the heat, it exploded.

Seccombe was airlifted to UMC with burns covering about half of his body. His son is also at UMC with burns to his legs, and according to his mother, the injuries went all the way to the bone.

His wife tells FOX5, both Dave and Cannon must undergo multiple surgeries to restore the skin to their bodies. and will have a long road to recovery.

Seccombe teachers 150 special needs children at Garside Junior High and hundreds of baseball students all across the Las Vegas Valley.

Baseball families organized a GoFundMe to help the family during this time.
