LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas woman was reportedly zip-tied and duct-taped as she was assaulting and intimidating flight attendants on a flight arriving at Harry Reid Airport, officials say.
Tuesday, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) said Ketty J. Dilone was a passenger aboard an American Airlines flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to Las Vegas, connecting through Charlotte, North Carolina. She allegedly started walking down the aisle and yelling, threatening multiple flight attendants.
The DOJ said Dilone had to be restrained with zip ties and duct tape. She reportedly started to kick a flight attendant, causing the employee to fall. DOJ’s press release did not immediately provide an update on the conditions of the attendants involved.
According to the media release, when the flight landed at Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas Metropolitan police officers responded and took Dilone into custody. The DOJ said she made her initial court appearance Thursday for one count of interference with a flight crew and one count of assault.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1. The DOJ says the maximum sentence is 20 years in prison.
The DOJ asks anyone who has been a victim of a crime committed aboard an aircraft or has witnessed one take place to report it to their flight crew, airport authority police, and the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324) or tips.fbi.gov.
