LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A threat toward Desert Oasis High School is “unsubstantiated,” the principal said in a letter to families.
FOX5 obtained the letter from the Clark County School District that was sent Friday morning by Principal Ian Salzman.
“We are aware of a rumor concerning a possible threat to our school,” Salzman said. “We take all threats seriously and report the information to the CCSD Police Department.”
CCSD Police investigated the rumor and said it is unsubstantiated. Salzman says there may be a noticeable increased police presence in the area out of caution.
“My top priority is to ensure your child is safe at school and to keep you informed of important matters happening within our school community,” Salzman said. “This serves as a reminder to please encourage your child to report any perceived threat to an adult on campus immediately so that the matter can be looked into.”
The letter did not confirm what type of threat was made toward the school. FOX5 asked the district for details on the threat and received the principal’s letter in response.
Students and parents can also make reports through the SafeVoice reporting system by calling1-833-216-SAFE (7233), through the website at safevoicenv.org or through the free downloadable phone app. Or call CCSDPD dispatch at 702-799-5411 for immediate attention.
