LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Police say the 43-year-old bicyclist who sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash earlier this month, has died.
In a release on Monday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the bicyclist – identified as Jose Dominguez of Las Vegas – was pronounced dead at UMC.
Dominguez died from injuries sustained in a collision with a Honda on Sunday, April 7 on North Nellis Boulevard, north of East Bonanza Road. An initial investigation revealed that a 2015 Honda Pilot was traveling north on Nellis when Dominguez “darted” across the roadway “in an unsafe manner” and was struck.
Dominguez was transported to UMC’s Trauma Unit in an ambulance, where he was initially reported to be in “critical condition,” according to police.
The Honda driver also remained at the scene, cooperated with police, and did not show any signs of impairment.
“Jose Dominguez’s death marks the 53rd traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
