LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man who was stabbed five times told Las Vegas police the suspect appeared in the home uninvited and “out of nowhere.”
FOX5 obtained documents for Las Vegas man Mason Mireles. He faces an attempted murder charge. The stabbing happened near Sunset and Arroyo Grande Boulevard in the southeast valley.
The night of Feb. 5, police received a call that someone was stabbed after multiple people got into a fight in the home.
The call said the suspect left on foot and took the knife with him.
When officers arrived, witnesses said, “out of nowhere, someone ran inside the house, jumped on him, and started stabbing him.”
Police said the victim was stabbed three times in his right arm and also has two wounds on his right side. Since the report was taken, the victim is “stable” at the hospital.
One witness told police the suspect, later identified at Mireles, put the victim in a headlock before stabbing him. She said she’s seen the suspect around the neighborhood and also believes the suspect was at the house before.
The witness believed the suspect uses narcotics.
The next day, police created a photo lineup of potential suspects. The victim identified Mireles.
“I’ve known his family for many years,” the victim said. “I don’t understand why he attacked.”
Two days later, police arrested Mireles. While being taken into custody, police found the knife he used in the stabbing.
“It wasn’t me,” Mireles told police.
In an interview with the suspect, Mireles said he was at the home during the stabbing, but he didn’t know who did it. He denied any involvement.
Mireles faces a preliminary hearing on Feb. 27 in Las Vegas Justice Court.
