LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police are expected to provide more details into a North Las Vegas shooting involving an officer.
The briefing is expected at 4 p.m. Tuesday. FOX5 plans to be there and stream through the video player above.
The incident started Friday. Police said 54-year-old Jaime Mendoza tried to flee the area of Christy Lane and Bonanza Road.
Officer Marcos Gomez, 33, would return fire. No officers were injured. Mendoza was able to escape briefly before crashing and fleeing on foot.
He would ultimately get taken into custody.
Officer Gomez has been employed with LVMPD since 2021 with the Tourist Safety Division in the Downtown Area Command. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending a review of the incident.
