LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – If you’re traveling on the Strip next week, be prepared for traffic!
Formula 1 announced on Thursday that maintenance work for the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix track will begin this weekend, and may cause congestion along the Strip. While there will be no full road closures, overnight lane restrictions will be in place from Sunday until Wednesday.
The first leg of the project will include the following closures:
- Overnight on Sunday, May 12 from 9:00 p.m. – Monday, May 13 at 6:00 a.m.
- Overnight on Monday, May 13 from 9:00 p.m. – Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 a.m.
These will take place at the following locations:
- Harmon Avenue westbound will be reduced to one lane between Audrie Street and Planet Hollywood Entrance.
- A portion of Sands Avenue eastbound will be reduced to one lane between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane.
The second part of the track maintenance will include the following closures:
- Overnight on Tuesday, May 14 from 12:01 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
- Overnight on Wednesday, May 15 from 12:01 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
The closures will take place at the following locations:
- Las Vegas Boulevard southbound will be reduced to two lanes at the entrance of Bellagio Drive. All other lanes will remain open for southbound travel.
- Las Vegas Boulevard southbound will experience lane reductions at the southwest corner of Harmon Avenue. Travel through the Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon intersection and southbound travel on Las Vegas Boulevard will be maintained.
This work will be executed alongside an unrelated, non-F1 existing traffic closure.
Additionally, outside of the closure hours, all lanes will be completely reopened.
