LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The man accused of causing a 12-car crash that killed three people is due in court Tuesday morning.
Jose Gutierrez, 19, is expected to appear for his preliminary hearing. He is facing three charges of open murder, as well as attempted murder, reckless driving, and battery charges.
Prosecutors maintain that the crash was “intentional,” pointing to the fact that one of the victims of the crash was Gutierrez’s girlfriend, Adilene Duran Ricon. A police report stated that she was 11 weeks pregnant at the time.
The coroner also identified the other two crash victims as Edward Garcia, 38, and Vanessa Lainez Vasquez, 25.

Attorneys representing Gutierrez argue that he experienced a medical episode that led to the crash, and said they would be collecting his medical records to present to the court.
This is a developing story, check back later for updates.
