Man accused in string of burglaries targeting new homes in Henderson, Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man suspected in a series of burglaries targeting newly built homes in Henderson and Las Vegas was arrested.

According to Henderson police, Alexander Eduardo Hernandez was arrested Aug. 7, suspected in connection with at least 10 burglaries in Henderson and more in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction. Law enforcement officials said many of the burglaries targeted newly built homes in the Cadence community.

Detectives found stolen property, including new refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, dryers and other construction supplies, totaling approximately $25,000.

The discoveries were made after law enforcement officials identified a pattern of burglaries in which high-end appliances were stolen from vacant new homes under construction.

Hernandez faces charges related to residential burglary, attempted theft, possession of a debit or credit card without the owner’s consent, possession of burglary tools, and theft.
