LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The man accused of a stabbing rampage on the Las Vegas Strip back in October 2022 pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Yoni Christian Barrios was 32 when he allegedly wielded a large chef’s knife outside the Wynn Las Vegas resort.
The stabbing killed two people and wounded six others. The two who died were identified as Maris DiGiovanni, 30, and Brent Allan Hallett, 46.
Thursday morning, Barrios faced Judge Tierra Jones and pleaded not guilty. He faces 15 charges. They range from battery, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and act of terrorism.
Barrios’ defense attorney asked for two weeks before an upcoming status check as he learned shortly before the arraignment that the death penalty will be sought.
Barrios next court date is Jan. 23 at 9 a.m.
