Man arrested after killing girlfriend, fleeing police in south Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man is facing murder charges after shooting and killing his girlfriend in the south valley Monday, police say.

Around 8:30 p.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 4200 block of Arville Street, south of Flamingo. Arriving officers located a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in a parking lot, who later died at the scene.

An investigation determined that the suspect, 41-year-old Richard Watson, had shot his girlfriend and fled the scene. Officers later located and arrested him.

Watson was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder with a dangerous weapon.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim at a later date.
