LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man is dead after colliding with a concrete jersey barrier in the southwest Las Vegas valley on Sunday night.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of South Buffalo Drive and West Tropicana Avenue, which forms a “T”-intersection, around 10:07 p.m.
Police would determine that a 2002 Honda Accord driven by a 53-year-old male was traveling south on Buffalo, approaching a red traffic signal. The driver would fail to stop for the light and enter the intersection, colliding with a concrete barrier.
Arriving medical personnel transported the driver to the Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center’s Trauma Unit, where he would die shortly after his arrival.
“The death marked the 45th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2024. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s collision investigation Section,” LVMPD noted in a release.
