Man dies after crash sends fencepost through car windshield in northwestern AZ

MOHAVE VALLEY, AZ (AZFamily) — A man is dead after a crash sent a fencepost through his car windshield in northwestern Arizona on Friday.

At 5 p.m., Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Dike Road and King Street in Mohave Valley, a community along the state’s western edge, for a report of a vehicle that crashed into a fence.

Deputies arrived on scene and found a black Chevrolet Silverado with a fencepost through its windshield. The driver was suffering from serious injuries.

The driver, 62-year-old Michael Trent Hughes of Fort Mohave, was transported to a Las Vegas hospital, where he later died.

Authorities believe Hughes was speeding and didn’t stop at a posted stop sign before crashing into the fence.

This investigation is still ongoing.
