LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man was killed in a shooting reported early Thursday in the east Las Vegas valley, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

LVMPD said dispatch received several calls reporting gunfire at about 1:32 a.m. March 12, in the 4300 block of Brookhaven Drive, near Flamingo Road and Jones Boulevard.

The call was later updated to a report of someone being shot.

Patrol officers arrived and found a man suffering from what police described as apparent gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel transported the victim to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The LVMPD Homicide Section responded and took over the investigation. Detectives learned the victim had been at a house party in the area and walked outside, where he was approached by a group of people, LVMPD said.

After a brief verbal exchange, shots were fired, striking the victim.

Police did not release the victim’s identity. The identification of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, will be available through the Clark County Coroner’s Office, LVMPD said.
