LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Attorney General Aaron Ford will not appeal the Clark County district court decision which ruled that Nevada Medicaid must cover abortions.

On Tuesday, Mar 19, a Clark County judge ruled in favor of the ACLU and its commitment to expanding reproductive rights.

At the time, Nevada Right to Life expressed disappointment with the judge’s ruling on the Lawsuit.

The ACLU represented the Silver State Hope Fund in the lawsuit.

The organization filed the lawsuit after voters passed an Equal Rights Amendment in 2022.

“We are thankful to the Nevada ACLU and the Reproductive Freedom Project,” said Erin Bilbray, Executive Director of Silver State Hope Fund. “We could not have done this without them. Their decision to represent us as a client will truly save the lives of countless people in Nevada who were being denied essential health care,”

Bilbray said the non-profit organization is grateful for AG Ford’s commitment to Equal Rights in Nevada.

“This victory is a testament to the resilience and dedication of our team at Silver State Hope Fund. We are deeply committed to championing abortion rights and ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their financial status, have access to comprehensive healthcare services, free from unnecessary barriers and stigma,” said Marya Shegog PhD, Silver State Hope Board President.
