LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A moped rider was seriously injured Monday afternoon after colliding with a dump truck in the central valley.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:29 p.m. on Charleston Boulevard, east of Maryland Parkway.

Following an initial investigation, police determined that a dump truck towing a trailer was traveling east on Charleston, while a 2022 Daixi 50cc moped was exiting a private driveway.

Police say the moped rider – identified as a 52-year-old woman – failed to yield to the truck, and crashed into the side of it. The crash then caused the moped to overturn and eject the rider.

She was then transported to UMC Trauma to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the crash is currently ongoing.
