LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Search and rescue crews airlifted an injured mountain biker to safety from the Red Rock Canyon area Saturday morning.
According to Las Vegas Metro Police, the biker crashed on the Flow Job Trail near Blue Diamond around 11 a.m. In the crash, the rider broke an arm and a leg, according to search and rescue officials.
Bureau of Land Management and Clark County Fire Department personnel began hiking to the crash site while search and rescue teams responded. Three SAR officers and two mountain rescue volunteers were inserted by the new AIR3 helicopter.
Fire department personnel treated the patient and loaded them into a litter for extraction. AIR3 returned to load the victim into the helicopter and transported them to a ground ambulance staged on State Route 159. The patient was subsequently transported to a local hospital.
AIR3 extracted the remaining search and rescue personnel while fire department crews hiked out with the victim’s biking party.
