LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — If you drive near the airport late at night, expect slower trips for the next several weeks.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) announced an updated schedule of traffic restrictions on Sunset Road and the Airport Connector as crews continue an ongoing pavement rehabilitation project.

NDOT says the work will improve nearly three miles of pavement between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive, with the goal of improving safety and extending the life of the roadway. The project also includes bridge and lighting improvements along the corridor.

Sunset Road: nightly lane reductions

NDOT says drivers should expect lane reductions on Sunset Road in both directions between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive:

  • Nightly, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, April 12 through Friday, May 8

Airport Connector: ramp and lane restrictions

NDOT says the following restrictions are needed for ongoing improvements:

Sunday night, April 12 into Monday, April 13

  • 8 p.m. Sunday, April 12 to 5 a.m. Monday, April 13
    • Left lane closed on southbound Airport Connector, shifting to the right lane overnight
    • Southbound Airport Connector ramp to eastbound I-215 reduced to one lane

Select nights: double left lane closure (southbound)

  • Nightly, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Thursday, April 16; Sunday, April 19; and Monday, April 20
    • Double left lane closure on southbound Airport Connector

April 21–23: double right lane closure + ramp impacts

  • Nightly, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesday, April 21 through Thursday, April 23
    • Double right lane closure on southbound Airport Connector
    • Grier Drive on-ramp to southbound Airport Connector closed
    • Airport Connector off-ramp to Hidden Wells Road reduced to one lane

April 26–30: continuous restrictions

  • 8 p.m. Sunday, April 26 through 5 a.m. Thursday, April 30 (continuous)
    • Left lane closed on southbound Airport Connector
    • Southbound Airport Connector ramp to eastbound I-215 reduced to one lane

May 5–7: continuous restrictions

  • 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 through 5 a.m. Thursday, May 7 (continuous)
    • Left lane closed on southbound Airport Connector
    • Southbound Airport Connector ramp to eastbound I-215 reduced to one lane

NDOT is asking drivers to plan ahead, slow down in work zones, and watch for changing traffic patterns during overnight hours.
