PERSHING COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office says an inattentive driver is responsible for the death of nearly 40 sheep.

The crash happened around 7:45 Tuesday morning.

Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen says hundreds of sheep were being moved between fields on Upper Valley Road when the driver collided with the herd.

No humans were killed and a dog herding the sheep was not injured. Some of the sheep had to be put down due to their injuries.

As of Friday morning, no charges have been filed as the crash is still under investigation. Both parties are cooperating.

Allen says the DA will file appropriate charges once the investigation is complete.
