LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced his efforts to tackle robocalls around the country with a multistate Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force.

According to the release, AG Ford, alongside 50 other attorneys general, will send warning letters to over 30 voice providers demanding they stop illegal robocalls reportedly being routed through their networks.

Officials say these providers have not followed Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and have not registered in the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Databases, or have not shared their plan to mitigate the illegal calls from coming through their network.

“The ongoing deluge of robocalls across the country and in Nevada has become a nuisance to our residents that must end,” said AG Ford. “The providers that we have warned today have ignored federal rules meant to stop these robocalls from getting through to the phones of Nevadans. They must immediately comply with these rules.”

The task force team will also notify 99 “downstream providers” that are known to accept call traffic from the notified providers. Officials say this means businesses are working with scammers and disregarding the rules and regulations in place for everyone.

The release says the FCC has announced they will be removing seven of the providers from the Robocall Mitigation Database, which will no longer allow them to route calls through their network.
