Preston Jakes was arrested March 13, 2026, in Long Beach, California, by the U.S. Marshals Service in a joint effort by the Nevada State Police Division of Parole and Probation.

Authorities said he was wanted in Nevada for a parole violation.

Jakes was convicted back on July 26, 2013, of attempted sexual assault after illegal sexual contact with a minor and was sentenced to 96 to 240 months in prison.

He would later be paroled April 12, 2021 but investigators say he disappeared from supervision in April 2022.

On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, officers with the Nevada State Police Division of Parole and Probation extradited Jakes from California back to Nevada.

He is now being held at the Clark County Jail.
